Privacy Policy — Compass
Last Updated: March 10, 2026
1. Overview
Ryan Tech Labs ("we," "our," or "us") built Compass as a privacy-first navigation app. This Privacy Policy explains our data practices. Simply put: we don't collect your data.
2. Information Collection
Compass does not collect any personal information. All location and sensor data is processed locally on your device. We do not transmit, store, or process any of your data on external servers or access it in any way.
2.1 What We Don't Collect
- No personal identifiable information
- No location history or movement tracking
- No analytics or usage data
- No tracking or telemetry
- No advertising data
- No device identifiers
- No account information
3. Location and Sensor Data
Compass uses your device's GPS, magnetometer (compass), and accelerometer sensors to calculate your current location and heading direction. All of this data is:
- Processed locally - Entirely on your device, not sent anywhere
- Never stored - Sensor readings are calculated in real-time and discarded
- Never shared - We have no access to your location or heading
- Your control - You can deny permission at any time
4. Permissions Usage
Compass may request the following permissions. These are used solely for core app functionality:
- Location Permission (GPS): Optional. Used only to display your current location coordinates when you grant permission. We never record, store, or transmit your location.
- Sensors (Magnetometer & Accelerometer): Required to display compass heading and direction. Used only when the app is open and actively running.
5. Third-Party Services
Compass does not use any third-party location services, analytics, crash reporting, or advertising services. The app functions entirely offline and independently. We have no integrations that would send your data anywhere.
6. Data Security
Since all data is processed locally on your device, the security of your data depends on your device's security. We recommend:
- Keeping your device updated with the latest OS version
- Using device-level security (PIN, fingerprint, or face unlock)
- Revoking app permissions you no longer need
- Uninstalling the app if you don't use it
7. Children's Privacy
Compass is safe for users of all ages, including children under 13. Since we don't collect any data, there are no special privacy concerns for younger users. Parents can safely allow children to use the app for navigation purposes.
8. Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by updating this page and the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of any changes.
